New crossings in Farnley & Wortley

Labour Campaign Succeeds

Ringways CrossingTWO YEARS after planning permission was granted for the new development on the former site of Ringways garage, Labour activists have finally pushed through one of the conditions attached to the site.

Before homes on the site could be sold, the developer had agreed that pedestrian crossings would be installed. With more and more people going to the brand new Wortley Beck Health Centre, and Lower Wortley school, it was vital that pedestrians were protected

The campaign by the Farnley and Wortley Labour Party, to ensure that the planning condition was enforced, culminated in a personal approach by John Hardy to Ringways’ Managing Director.

John said: "It is a disgrace that it took so long to compy with a simple planning condition. I'm glad the crossing is finally there, and people can cross Whitehall Road and the Ring Road much more easily. I want to make sure that we won't see such blatant disregard for planning laws again."

Promoted by Ray Collins, General Secretary, the Labour Party, on behalf of the Labour Party, both at 39 Victoria Street, London, SW1H 0HA.
