Councillors dig deep to back local nurseries
Local Councillors in Killingbeck and Seacroft have shown their commitment to the areas’ youngsters by donating funds to three local nurseries. Kentmere Children’s Centre, Parklands Children’s Centre and East Leeds Family Learning Centre have each received £150 from the Councillors’ MICE money, which is set aside specifically to be spent on local groups and issues. Councillor Graham Hyde believes all three centres play a valuable role in the community, and he and his ward colleagues were eager to assist them in any way they could. The money will be spent on toys and equipment, and Councillor Hyde is delighted that they have been able to help. Councillor Graham Hyde (Killingbeck & Seacroft) said “I am thrilled that my ward colleagues and I have been able to provide this funding. These three centres all play pivotal roles in the development of youngsters in our community and it is wonderful to be able to recognise the contribution that they make. They offer a great service to the residents of East Leeds, from childcare facilities to education and vocational training. The employees at these centres all work really hard to give our children the best possible start in life.

I hope this donation will help them to continue the fantastic work they are doing. My ward colleagues and I are fully committed to giving our youngsters every chance we can and I hope we are able to offer similar support to these projects in the future.”
