Beeston Broncos are back and raring to go!

Local Labour Councillor Angela Gabriel has continued her drive to get the area’s youngsters energised by pledging her support to the recently reformed Beeston Broncos Junior Rugby League Club.

The club refo
rmed at the end of 2007 under a completely new management team, and Councillor Gabriel has been quick to provide them with financial support. Along with her ward colleagues David Congreve and Adam Ogilvie, she has donated £100 to help kickstart the team.

Meanwhile, the local Area Committee, of which Councillor Gabriel is the Chair, has delivered a further funding boost to the Broncos by donating an extra £1000. The club made a triumphant return with an under 10’s team last season, training with the Leeds Rhinos coaching staff and playing at the home of Castleford Tigers.

They are now looking to expand into other age groups as soon as possible and are always happy to welcome new players. Councillor Gabriel hopes this cash boost will help the club grow and become a major part of the local community.

Councillor Angela Gabriel (Beeston & Holbeck) said  “It’s great news that the Broncos are up and running again in Beeston and my ward colleagues and I are thrilled that we have been able to help. It’s really important that we encourage our children to take part in sports and the chance to be part of a great club like Beeston Broncos is an exciting opportunity for them. Not only do they help our kids to have fun and keep fit, but I believe teams like this can play a vital role in our community.

I hope these donations help the club to grow and I am sure that they will have a great season in 2008. I know they are always on the lookout for new players, so anyone who is interested in taking part should get down to South Leeds Sports Centre and get involved.”
